I went for a bit of overkill here.
ChangefIT stores up to 999 versions of the previous LIVE source. i.e. when promoting to Live, the existing live source is archived. When promoting from Dev to Test, Test to QA (optional phase), the source is not archived.
The same applies to all objects promoted to LIVE with the exception that only 1 copy is archived, i.e. the most recent version is in the archive. PF's are archived with the data.
As to where the archived source and object resides, can be seen from the Task enquiry screen.
BTW. the "Fast Path" promotion options used to compile can also be seen from here at the same time.

I should also add that the file name of the archived source is same name as the originating source. For example, Infor S21 uses the self-explanatory file names DISPLAYS and PRINTFILES, obviously for QDDSSRC types DSPF and PRTF respectively. If you have a source file called WYBMADIFTY, ChangefIT will archive the source in a source file with the same name in the archive library. Simple: work the way you are used to.
Also, if the archive process, for whatever reason fails, the promotion phase will not proceed. Simple: No archive (i.e. audit), no promotion.
